The search engine for the CDSV web site was created
to allow you to find the part you need as quickly as
possible among the nearly 500,000 parts electronically
warehoused from our four utilities. Here are some tips
for using our search page.
- All entries can be in either upper or lower case.
The search is case insensitive.
- Enter the Part Number from the
manufacturer for the quickest match. The search
engine will first try to find the part number as
entered, then it will remove any special
characters (like -, ., *, etc.) and try to find
matches without the special characters.
- If more than one manufacturer matches the Manufacturer
Name that you entered, you will be
presented with a page of matching Manufacturers.
Click on the correct Manufacturer Name for the
item you are looking for, and the search engine
will use this information in its search.
- The Noun Description is a single
word or words which specify the main noun which
describes the part. Examples: "VALVE",
"AXLE", "POWER SUPPLY",
"WASHER", etc. The majority of these
are single word nouns used to exactly specify the
item.
- The Description field allows the
user to enter several words which describe the
item. Example: "INSULATED REGULATOR
TURBINE". Each word will be used by itself
to determine which items contain all or a portion
of the words entered. The items which match all
of the entered words appear higher in the list of
matches than those which only match a few.
- The keywords "AND" and "OR"
can also be used to perform logical expressions
for finding items. Example: "VALVE 1/2 OR
3/4", "GENERATOR AND TURBINE".
"AND" instructs the search engine to
find items with both words in the description.
"OR" instructs the search engine to
find items with either or both of the words in
the item description. A blank between words is
used like "AND".
- Lastly, enclosing a phrase in quotation marks
will perform an exact match of the phrase
ensuring that the words are together in the same
order as they are entered. "FOR MODEL NO.
77S HEATER UNIT" will find any item with the
words in the order they were entered.
